Abstract

La compétitivité « hors prix » est étudiée pour les huit pays qui composent l'Union Economique et Monétaire Ouest Africaine (UEMOA) : Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinée Bissau, Mali, Niger, Sénégal, Togo. L'intégration dans ce cadre institutionnel a été effective dans quasiment tous les domaines. La question de la compétitivité « prix » est souvent questionnée. Les caractéristiques du régime de change y conduisent naturellement du fait des rigidités que peuvent induire les accords de coopération monétaire, notamment le taux de change fixe du franc CFA. Le taux de change réel est évidemment un instrument d'explication des performances économiques, mais il n'est pas le seul, et pas forcément le plus décisif, notamment dans le contexte de l'UEMOA où les multiples facettes des vulnérabilités et de l'attractivité des territoires nationaux montrent toute leur importance.
