Abstract

Port supply chain integration is a concept that has been the subject of several discussions in research in port management. However, if these discussions have reached the maturity, they have not made it possible to solidly circumscribe the theoretical framework on which the port supply chain integration is based. This failure can be a source of misunderstanding of this concept. Thus, the target of this article is trying to circumscribe the port supply chain integration as an organizational capability and therefore an element of the resources based-theory. Theoretical analysis based on a relevant literature have made possible to show this proposition. From this demonstration, it was observed that supply chain integration, as an organizational capability, is a hierarchical and multidimensional concept.
