Abstract

The article analyzes the economic development process of Nghe An province in relation to provinces in the North Central sub-region and to the whole country, based on economic fundamentals withn an emphasize on three strategic breakthroughs, including institutions, human resources and infrastructure. Nghe An province has achieved significant results in economic development associated with stability in income distribution. The province is gradually narrowing the income gap compared to the national average, but it is widening the income gap with the North Central sub-region and the central cities. Focusing on investing in the human resources and attracting foreign direct investment should become policy priorities in the coming time.
