Abstract

Les exploitations laitières, observées à des stades différents de leur cycle de vie et notamment avant ou après les cinq premières années suivant l'installation, montrent des comportements d'investissement différents. Les nouveaux entrants sous statut individuel ont un taux de croissance en capital plus élevé que les autres dans les cinq ans suivant l'installation. En revanche, et contrairement aux exploitations sociétaires, leur capital ne croit pas plus fortement après ces cinq premières années, alors qu'on observe un plus fort accroissement de la production, de la productivité laitière et de la productivité du travail. Ceci suggère que les coûts d'ajustement consécutifs aux investissements en phase d'installation, disparaissent au-delà de 5 ans, permettant aux exploitations de retrouver un niveau satisfaisant de performance. Nos résultats en termes de trajectoires sur 10 ans confirment que l'investissement est, pour la majorité des exploitations, continu au cours de la vie d'une exploitation, permettant sans doute de minimiser les coûts d'ajustement
