Abstract

La croissance britannique a ralenti en 2025, après avoir été portée en début d'année par l'investissement des entreprises et les exportations. Sans le déclenchement de la guerre en Iran, l'inflation, qui avait atteint 3,9 % en juillet 2025, se serait approchée de 2 % au printemps 2026, ce qui faisait entrevoir des baisses de taux directeurs. Mais, depuis la fin février, la hausse des prix du pétrole et du gaz a donné un coup d'arrêt à cette perspective. Dans notre scénario central, l'inflation ne reviendrait en dessous de 2 % qu'à l'horizon du second semestre 2027, permettant alors l'amorce d'une baisse des taux directeurs de la Banque d'Angleterre. En 2026 et 2027, la politique budgétaire freinerait la croissance, le gouvernement s'étant engagé à ramener le solde public, hors investissement, à l'équilibre en 2028-2029 (après un déficit de 1,6 % en 2025-2026) et à faire baisser la dette nette du secteur public à partir de 2028-2029. Le PIB n'augmenterait que de 0,7 % en 2026 et de 1,2 % l'an prochain. Le taux de chômage, après avoir atteint 5,2 % en décembre 2025, soit une hausse de 0,8 point sur un an, atteindrait 6,4 % au quatrième trimestre 2027. [Premier paragraphe]
