Abstract

Les dossiers de légion d'honneur de dirigeants de grandes entreprises impériales donnent à voir leurs parcours. Plus encore, ils contiennent des passages justifiant les propositions de l'administration par le mérite des hommes d'affaires. A travers les dossiers de trois hommes d'affaires, Théodore Mante, Lucien Maurel et André Lebon, nous mettons au jour trois modalités d'articulation entre les entreprises impériales et l'Etat. Les processus d'émergence de ces dernières sont indispensables pour comprendre les relations spécifiques qu'entretiennent aujourd'hui pouvoirs publics et grandes entreprises, dans les Etats issus de l'empire colonial français – dont la France.
