Abstract

Malgré le ralentissement économique mondial et le resserrement monétaire de la Réserve fédérale, la croissance américaine ne fléchit pas et le marché du travail reste tendu. Néanmoins, quelques signaux indiquent que le retournement conjoncturel pourrait se matérialiser d'ici la fin de l'année. Les conditions financières se sont durcies pour l'ensemble des agents non financiers. La poursuite de la désépargne des ménages permettrait aux États-Unis d'échapper à la récession mais le fléchissement de l'activité qui se profile à partir de la fin de l'année 2023 se traduira par une remontée du chômage. L'inflation devrait également poursuivre sa décrue mais à un rythme modéré. Dans ce contexte, la Réserve fédérale mettrait un terme au resserrement et pourrait même décider de baisser le taux directeur au deuxième semestre 2024 pour contenir la dégradation de la conjoncture économique.
