Abstract

La croissance du PIB chinois a été, selon les statistiques officielles, de 3 % en 2022, nettement inférieure à l'objectif de 5,5 % que s'était fixé le gouvernement début mars. L'arrivée d'Omicron sur le sol chinois a conduit à de nombreux confinements et mises à l'arrêt d'activités au cours de l'année (dont Shanghai pendant deux mois au printemps), dans le cadre de l'application de la stratégie zéro-Covid. Le 7 décembre 2022, face à la montée croissante des mécontentements parmi la population soumise de façon épisodique à des restrictions strictes depuis près de trois ans, et du fait d'une activité économique freinée par les mesures sanitaires, le gouvernement chinois abandonnait soudainement la stratégie zéro-Covid, prenant le risque d'une forte montée de décès liés à la Covid-19, ce qu'il avait souhaité éviter pendant près de trois ans. Ce risque ne s'est apparemment pas réalisé. La reprise semble s'être amorcée de façon graduelle, au tournant de 2022-2023, selon les indicateurs conjoncturels disponibles jusqu'à la fin mars.
