Abstract

Comme dans la plupart des pays industrialisés, la reprise post-Covid s'est interrompue au deuxième trimestre 2022 sous l'effet principalement du choc inflationniste démarré à la mi-2021 et qui se prolonge jusqu'à aujourd'hui. L'économie britannique aurait frôlé la récession au tournant de 2022 et de 2023. Elle devrait toutefois y échapper au premier semestre grâce au soutien de la consommation et de l'investissement publics qui compenseront un faible repli de la consommation des ménages et les reculs de l'investissement des entreprises et en logement. Le soutien des dépenses publiques au premier semestre 2023 serait temporaire et l'impulsion budgétaire serait négative du fait de hausses d'impôts (hausse du taux d'imposition des sociétés de 19 % à 25 % à partir d'avril, partiellement compensée par une mesure fiscale de déduction des investissements, hausse des taux d'imposition et gels de barèmes sur les revenus).
