Abstract

Plus d'un enfant sur vingt ne survit pas jusqu'à l'âge d'un an. Presque un milliard de personnes sont entrées dans le XXIe siècle sans être capables de lire. 80 % de la population mondiale doivent se partager 15 % des biens que nous sommes capables de produire. Les habitants des pays les plus pauvres ont un revenu par tête 75 fois moins élevé que les habitants des pays les plus riches. Même si la pauvreté absolue recule, les écarts relatifs de richesse ne cessent de s'accroître. En 1950, les habitants des pays les plus pauvres avaient un revenu qui n'était « que » 35 fois moins élevé que celui des pays les plus riches (...).
