Abstract

Le Débat. La conjoncture récente a relancé, depuis quelques mois, le débat qui oppose libre-échangistes et protectionnistes. Quels sont aujourd''hui les arguments théoriques en présence? Jean-Paul Fitoussi. En matière d'échanges internationaux, la théorie fondamentale reste celle, classique, des « avantages comparatifs », démontrée par Ricardo et complétée par Stuart Mill : les échanges internationaux produisent un avantage global, un surplus, un accroissement de richesse, lié à l'abandon, par chaque pays, des productions pour lesquelles il se trouve relativement désavantagé, et sa spécialisation vers les industries où ses coûts de production sont relativement les plus faibles (...).
