Abstract

Depuis la fin 2009, l'économie britannique a retrouvé le chemin de la croissance : le PIB a augmenté de 1,2 % au deuxième trimestre 2010, après avoir enregistré une hausse de 0,4 % au premier trimestre comme au trimestre précédent. Ces trois trimestres consécutifs de croissance sont cependant loin d'avoir effacé l'impact de la crise sur l'activité : le PIB reste inférieur de 4,7 % à son niveau du premier trimestre 2008. Pour la première fois depuis le début de la crise, l'emploi a augmenté au deuxième trimestre 2010, soit de 0,6 %. Ceci s'est accompagné d'une baisse de 0,2 point du taux de chômage (mesuré selon le concept du BIT) à 7,8 %, alors qu'il était de 5,2 % au début 2008. [Premier paragraphe]
