L'arbitrage cohésion-croissance. Une analyse des régions européennes (1980-2000)

Abstract

De nombreux apports théoriques mettent en évidence l'influence positive de l'agglomération géographique des activités sur la croissance économique. Cet article propose une analyse empirique de cet arbitrage de politique économique entre la défense de la cohésion spatiale et la recherche d'une croissance maximale. Nous estimons l'influence de la dispersion des pib par tête et des activités économiques au sein des macro-régions européennes (nuts1) sur la croissance économique de ces dernières. Nos résultats montrent que les inégalités intra-régionales ont un effet positif sur la croissance régionale, du moins pour les régions du Nord de l'Europe.
