Abstract

The role of external stakeholders in defining and implementing CSR remains neglected. Dwelling on the CSR norms and sensemaking literature, we study the role and contribution of consultants in making sense of CSR (among all stakeholders). Based on a qualitative case study, we then analyze the place and roles of external actors to implement CSR in an agrifood SME. We show that collaborative actions contribute to making sense of CSR norms among consultants and middle managers.
