Stratégie multiproduit et concurrence intermodale : les nouveaux défis de la grande vitesse ferroviaire

Abstract

La libéralisation du transport ferroviaire à grande vitesse en France intervient dans un paysage déjà bouleversé par l'essor du low cost et des plateformes numériques. À partir d'une analyse empirique menée sur cinq grands axes avant l'ouverture à la concurrence, cet article met en évidence le rôle central des prix et des fréquences comme leviers stratégiques de l'opérateur historique. Les liaisons rapides et bien équipées associent tarifs élevés et offre dense, tandis que les axes longs et techniquement moins performants présentent des prix plus faibles et des fréquences réduites. La concurrence intermodale (aérien, autocar, covoiturage) exerce une pression significative sur les prix et l'organisation de l'offre, tandis que la stratégie multiproduit de la SNCF lui permet de segmenter la demande et d'ajuster ses services. Ces résultats éclairent les dynamiques actuelles de la grande vitesse et leurs implications pour les nouveaux entrants.
