Abstract

Plus que d'autres sujets, les retraites véhiculent de fausses évidences et des argumentations sans fondements empiriques ou rigueur logique. Certains prétendent que prolonger la durée d'activité des seniors, c'est priver la jeunesse de travail, comme si la quantité d'emplois était fixe, ou que les pensions sont un juste retour sur investissement, alors que la retraite en France fonctionne essentiellement par répartition. Cet ouvrage commence par dresser un panorama sélectif des systèmes de retraite dans le monde, avant de détailler le système français pour en éclairer la complexité. Puis il analyse le débat entre financement des retraites par répartition et financement par capitalisation, prolongé par une présentation des fonds de pension qui sont une modalité, souvent décriée, du financement par capitalisation. Après un examen des relations entre travail et retraite, il s'interroge enfin sur l'avenir du système de retraite en France, qui demeure incertain malgré les réformes successives.
