Abstract

Cet article aborde la question de la (ré)conciliation entre « l'essence artistique » et la pérennité économique et sociale des agences d'architecture. Ces dernières vivent une crise identitaire et une crise de positionnement managérial liées à des contraintes économiques, sociales, environnementales et normatives, auxquelles elles n'avaient pas été préparées. L'objectif est de mieux comprendre ce phénomène à partir d'une analyse de la situation socio-organisationnelle, managériale et économique initiale d'un groupe de six agences, et leur situation après plusieurs mois de recherche-intervention. Nous proposons une analyse des modalités de l'articulation entre les activités de management et le métier d'architecte-concepteur, qui montrera que le renforcement de la cohésion interne et de la qualité de vie professionnelle constitue un facteur de différenciation, et probablement une condition liminaire pour mieux affronter l'environnement externe et retrouver pleinement le sens du métier d'architecte.
