Abstract

Marquée par de nombreuses crises économiques et financières depuis l'indépendance politique obtenue au XIXe siècle, la partie la moins développée du continent américain attire aujourd'hui tous les regards en raison de sa participation au processus d'émergence observé depuis la décennie 2000. Qu'il s'agisse du Brésil, du Mexique, du Chili ou de l'Argentine, tout un groupe de pays situés en Amérique latine semblait susciter l'espoir d'un rattrapage rapide sur les États les plus développés. Pourquoi l'insertion internationale particulière des économies latino-américaines a-t-elle aidé à soutenir durant près de dix ans la croissance économique ? Comment expliquer le ralentissement observé depuis 2012 ? Et quelles seront les implications politiques, sociales et économiques de la remise en question des gouvernements dits progressistes ? La baisse récente de la pauvreté, observée dans des pays situés parmi les plus inégalitaires au monde, pourrait-elle être remise en question ? L'objectif de cet ouvrage n'est pas d'apporter des réponses définitives, mais d'offrir au lecteur, initié ou débutant, des éléments d'analyse qui lui permettront de nourrir sa réflexion.
