Abstract

Le concept d'âge subjectif a été introduit initialement en marketing pour pallier les limites de l'âge chronologique (l'âge réel) comme critère de segmentation du marché des seniors. Un grand nombre de travaux sur les plus de 50 ans ont souligné le manque de pertinence de l'âge chronologique. Ils proposent comme alternative, de caractériser les différences de consommation par l'intermédiaire de l'âge perçu. Cet article, à travers l'étude de plusieurs exemples, fait un diagnostic de l'utilisation de ce critère dans une démarche de segmentation. L'élargissement du concept à la définition d'une attitude envers l'âge permet d'envisager de nouvelles perspectives. Des solutions au problème de l'accessibilité à la cible sont proposées.
