Abstract

Le BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) Transoeste, qui relie la zone de Barra da Tijuca à la zone ouest de la ville de Rio de Janeiro, a été présenté, lors de son inauguration, comme l'un des principaux « héritages olympiques » et comme une « révolution des transports » pour la population carioca –, résultant de l'action conjointe des différents niveaux de gouvernement brésiliens. Cet article cherche à problématiser le projet sur la base des contradictions observées à partir du fonctionnement du système de transport – sa saturation et sa surcharge, la mauvaise qualité des travaux, les accidents – et des effets socio-spatiaux induits par son implantation, conduisant à l'expropriation forcée de centaines d'habitants de favelas.
