Temps partiel contraint en début de carrière: la crise a-t-elle aggravé la situation ?

Abstract

Un jeune sur trois occupe au moins une fois un emploi à temps partiel au cours des sept années jalonnant son début de carrière. Le travail à temps partiel peut être une étape dans le processus d'insertion ou traduire des difficultés d'insertion sur le marché du travail. En effet, les deux tiers des jeunes occupés à temps partiel souhaiteraient travailler à temps plein. Nous comparons les trajectoires d'entrée dans la vie active durant 7 années de deux générations de primo-sortants du système éducatif en France métropolitaine: la Génération 2004, interrogée en 2011 et la Génération 1998, interrogée en 2005. Sur la base de cette comparaison, nous proposons une méthodologie en différence de différence permettant d'évaluer l'impact causal de la crise sur le parcours d'insertion de ces jeunes. Plusieurs éléments se dégagent de l'analyse.
