Abstract

Cílem článku je zavést debatu na téma jednotné měny v souvislosti s přípravou Maastrichtské smlouvy. Autor článku je zastáncem přijetí eura jakožto jednotné měny a pro obhájení svého postoje využívá historické a srovnávací perspektivy. Zdůrazňuje výhody, které by mohly zavedením eura získat státy střední Evropy, především Česká republika. Mezi ně se řadí například výhody inflace a flexibility směnného kurzu, ale také pozitivní dopady plynoucí z reálných omezení a úsilí o zvýšení produktivity, jež přísná měnová a monetární politika implikuje.
