Abstract

« Dans son système territorial, la ville intermédiaire remplit une somme de fonctions de médiation qui contribuent à la connexion de l'ensemble des localités. Ce sont très concrètement des points d'accès à des réseaux d'infrastructures globales, à des plateformes techniques de génération récente, mais aussi des lieux de recueil des informations et de traduction de signaux, de différentes natures-économique, culturelle, politique notamment-et d'origine exogène qui importent pour la compréhension des enjeux en cours de développement. Ainsi, par sa place dans une organisation urbaine relativement hiérarchisée, la ville intermédiaire donne accès à un ensemble de ressources stratégiques pour les acteurs de son système spatial. »
