Abstract

L'automatisation des véhicules est le prochain défi auquel les collectivités seront confrontées dans un avenir qui se rapproche à grands pas. Cette révolution aura de multiples impacts, tant sur les comportements de mobilité que sur l'aménagement du territoire. Il est encore temps d'anticiper ce phénomène et de ne pas se laisser dépasser par la généralisation de la voiture autonome individuelle. Il est néanmoins important que les collectivités, en tant que planificateurs du territoire et fournisseurs de service à la mobilité, agissent rapidement afin de penser au mieux la transition de leurs réseaux de transport publics, l'intégration de systèmes de véhicules autonomes partagés, ainsi que la régulation de l'ensemble avec les nouveaux acteurs en émergence. Des tests d'implémentation sur les territoires ont déjà été réalisés en Europe, il serait sûrement pertinent d'en réaliser également au Québec afin d'acquérir plus d'expérience dans le domaine.
