Abstract

Professeure de Sciences Politiques à McGill, Juliet Johnson nous livre dans Priests of Prosperity les résultats d'un long travail de recherche – démarré en 1999 – appuyé par de nombreux entretiens avec des banquiers centraux dans les pays d'Europe de l'Est et de l'ancien espace soviétique. La chute de l'Union Soviétique et les crises économique et idéologique qui l'ont accompagnée ont généré un véritable défi pour les banquiers centraux des pays occidentaux. Il s'agissait pour ceux-ci de promouvoir et implanter rapidement un modèle de banque centrale devenu incontestablement dominant en Occident. C'est le récit que propose de faire l'ouvrage, les sept chapitres présentant différentes étapes du processus de promotion et d'implantation du modèle.
