Abstract

Ce quatrième volume des œuvres de Paul Pierre Lemercier de la Rivière (1719-1801) poursuit l'édition de ses contributions au mouvement intellectuel de la seconde moitié du XVIIIe siècle. Les textes recueillis ici ont en commun d'être des travaux par lesquels Lemercier de la Rivière répond à des sollicitations de la part de députés polonais, du roi de Suède, du ministre de la Marine, d'un économiste espagnol et de l'Assemblée nationale. Il s'agit de fait d'œuvres d'expertise. Le recueil que nous avons constitué dans cet esprit contient, selon un ordre chronologique, les pièces suivantes (dont trois d'entre-elles sont inédites) : L'Intérêt commun des Polonois (1772) ; De l'Instruction publique (1775) ; Le Compte rendu au Ministre de la Marine (1776) sur les Considérations sur l'état présent de la colonie française de Saint- Domingue ; Lettres sur la Banque de Saint-Charles d'Espagne (1786-1787) ; Mémoire à l'Assemblée nationale pour les syndics généraux des créanciers des Jésuites (1790) ; Palladium de la constitution politique (1790).
