Abstract

Compte-rendu de lecture : Le Cercle de Vincent de Gournay. Savoirs économiques et pra­ti­ques admi­nis­tra­ti­ves en France au milieu du XVIIIe siè­cle, Loïc Charles, Frédéric Lefebvre et Christine Théré dir., Paris, INED, 2011, 396 pages. L'ambition principale de ces travaux est de montrer que le « cercle » de Vincent de Gournay occupe une place spécifique dans l'histoire intellectuelle et administrative de la France des Lumières. Au milieu du siècle, des convergences de pratiques administratives et d'analyses rapprochent Vincent de Gournay, Daniel Charles Trudaine et François Véron de Forbonnais. A partir de ce premier noyau, un cercle d'une vingtaine de personnalités des lettres et de l'administration se constitue en groupe ouvert – contrairement aux physiocrates réunis quelques années plus tard autour de François Quesnay – aux discussions contradictoires.
