Abstract

Face au bouleversement de la place des campagnes dans les sociétés et économies occidentales, la question posée dans ce chapitre est celle de la capacité de la recherche à renouveler ses cadres d'analyse pour en prendre la mesure. Le chapitre procède en quatre étapes. La première pointe le changement survenu dans les années quatre-vingts avec le passage des représentations du rural d'une base sectorielle agricole à une base spatiale régionale ; la deuxième pose les éléments de constat qui tracent les modifications socio-économiques des campagnes depuis trente ans, notamment dans leurs liens à la ville ; la troisième replace ces évolutions dans les cadres d'analyse qui recourent principalement à l'économie géographique ; enfin, la dernière section envisage les dimensions complémentaires à inscrire dans le prolongement des dynamiques de recherche ainsi tracées.
