Abstract

Tanger-Med est devenu en quelques années le grand port de la rive sud du détroit de Gibraltar. Projet portuaire porté dès son investiture par le roi Mohamed VI, Tanger-Med est à la fois le symbole d'un Maroc de plus en plus connecté aux échanges internationaux et d'un Maroc qui rééquilibre son territoire en reconsidérant son Nord, cette frange longtemps espagnole (1912-1956) et parfois considérée comme rebelle. L'opération Tanger-Med est un succès au regard des trafics enregistrés depuis l'inauguration du port en 2007 (Tab.1). En 2013, le port a vu passer plus de 1 800 porte-conteneurs amenant le trafic à 2,5 millions d'EVP 2 (Photo 1). La moyenne des boîtes traitées par escale est particulièrement élevée, plus de 1 200 EVP, ce qui est logique puisque 95% de l'activité conteneurs de Tanger-Med est du transbordement.
