Abstract

Le salariat n'a cessé d'être mis en cause de manière récurrente depuis plus de cent ans. Mais paradoxalement, c'est à l'inverse sa possible disparition qui est crainte aujourd'hui, dans la mesure où elle entraînerait celle de nombreux mécanismes de protection sociale. Ce paradoxe invite à réinterroger la représentation du salariat. Dans cet article, nous suggérons que la lecture économique classique du salariat comme la condition de celui qui loue ses services ou sa capacité de travail a pu enfermer la représentation du salariat. La reconnaissance du rôle et des effets réels du management moderne conduit au contraire à renouveler la lecture du contrat de travail. Et elle invite à envisager de nouvelles formes de contrats d'engagement qui ordonneraient le travail autour d'un futur désirable au lieu de le subordonner.
