Abstract

The objective of this study is to assess the Attitude towards Business Ethics of Business Managers working in the contexts of both informal economy and formal economy within developing countries. We investigate Attitude towards Business Ethics of managers in three West African countries (Senegal, Benin and Togo). We use the Attitudes Towards Business Ethics Questionnaire (ATBEQ) and collect data on a sample of 1000 managers both in the formal and the informal sector. We report the results of the ATBEQ scale at the aggregate West African level for the two sectors of the economy. We then identify three main dimensions of the scale through exploratory and confirmatory analyses and compare business ethics attitudes of formal and informal managers on the three uncovered dimensions.
