De la crise de l'économie à la crise du savoir économique

Abstract

Paul Krugman, économiste de grande réputation dans la sphère académique, a dans les années 2000 touché le grand public américain en émettant de judicieuses critiques à l'encontre de la présidence de George W. Bush, dans ses éditoriaux du New York Times. Après la crise de 2008, il est devenu un détracteur féroce des politiques d'austérité, dans une veine néokeynésienne. Néanmoins, à l'image de la plupart de ses collègues, il fut très surpris par l'ampleur de la crise de 2008[1]. Certes, il ne s'agit pas de lui reprocher de n'avoir pas su prédire le moment d'une crise. Mais, le rôle de la connaissance en économie est assurément de comprendre ce à quoi nous expose un type d'organisation de l'économie. C'est, par conséquent, la " science économique " qui fait problème, compte tenu de son rôle important dans l'organisation même de l'économie et de son enseignement. Notre hypothèse est que Krugman, comme d'autres économistes devenus contestataires de la pensée dominante, ne tire pas toutes les conséquences nécessaires d'une contestation d'un savoir fondé sur la centralité du marché.
