Ciudades Patrimonio de la Humanidad y turismo: un ámbito de reflexión compartido

Abstract

Las ciudades históricas, en especial las Ciudades Patrimonio de la Humanidad, constituyen uno de los principales referentes culturales de España y Latinoamérica. En este texto se abordan los resultados de una investigación comparada sobre este tipo de ciudades a nivel de España y México, atendiendo fundamentalmente a su caracterización en términos turísticos: base patrimonial, génesis y evolución turística, afluencia de visitantes, oferta comercial de orientación turística y política turística. Además de presentar un panorama general del turismo de las grandes ciudades patrimoniales de cada país, se plantean las semejanzas y diferencias a nivel de base e intervención urbana así como de los procesos de conformación del destino turístico ciudad histórica. La cooperación, entendida dentro de los parámetros del trabajo universitario, se ha centrado en la transferencia desde España de metodologías de trabajo que necesariamente deben adaptarse a la realidad socioeconómica y urbanoterritorial de los diferentes países de Latinoamérica.
