Abstract

The real success of General Electric management and activites in Vietnam could be described by a specific organization which has been trying to eliminate vertical and horizontal boundaries within GE and to break down external barriers between the company and its customers, suppliers and local communities. Using a case study approach, we want to understand the GE boundaryless organization in Vietnam (kind of chain of command, spans of control, empowered teams, 360-degree performance appraisal). Secondly, we provide data that reflect how boundaryless organization success in Vietnam was perceived, interpreted, and legitimated by those involved.
