Abstract

Après avoir dressé un panorama complet des divers modes d'organisation et théories sur l'organisation du travail telles que le Taylorisme et les approches psycho-sociologiques, Henri Savall fait le constat de leurs insuffisances pour contribuer à long terme à l'amélioration du fonctionnement des entreprises et de la qualité de vie au travail. Il s'attache également à démontrer qu'il n'existe pas d'incompatibilité entre l'amélioration des conditions de travail, la productivité des entreprises et leur performance économique à court terme. Enfin, à partir de l'étude d'expériences françaises à la Régie Renault, au Crédit Lyonnais et chez B.S.N.-Gervais Danone, l'auteur propose d'introduire dans le système de comptabilité de nouveaux critères de performance afin de mieux cerner les coûts de production et de mesurer économiquement les processus de changement mis en œuvre et leurs effets.
