Abstract

Les identités qui s'affirment à travers le monde résultent d'une construction culturelle, politique ou idéologique, donc historique. Elles sont l'expression de ""stratégies identitaires"", rationnellement conduites par des acteurs identifiables. L'approche de cette étude consiste à croiser les regards provenant de différentes disciplines. La première partie, ""Stéréotypes et représentations identitaires communautaires"", s'intéresse à des oeuvres littéraires mettant en scène des membres de communautés qui ont été exclues et opprimées pendant la colonisation : aborigène, indienne, irlandaise. Dans la deuxième partie, ""Interculturalité et représentations identitaires individuelles"", les auteurs ont choisi d'élargir ce concept pour y inclure les récits de vie créés dans les mondes virtuels sur Internet, après deux exemples interculturels sino-américain et américano-pakistanais. La troisième partie du livre, ""Modernité, crises et constructions identitaires"", réunit des études sur le thème de la construction d'États-nations et de leur identité culturelle, post-coloniales (Singapour, Malaysia) ou d'après guerre (Japon). Un contre exemple remarquable est fourni par les Bajos en Indonésie. Des thèmes importants, y compris pour les acteurs des domaines économiques et politiques, sont étudiés : interculturalité, politique de l'État-nation.
