Absentéisme, âge et manque d'implication au travail : l'exemple des éboueurs

Abstract

L'exemple des éboueurs infirme l'idée selon laquelle il existe une corrélation positive entre âge et absentéisme. Paradoxalement, malgré la pénibilité du métier, l'absentéisme affecte principalement les jeunes éboueurs. La présente étude cherche à cerner les enjeux qui se cachent derrière ce paradoxe. Dans un premier temps, des études quantitatives (analyse factorielle des correspondances) et qualitatives (entretiens semi-directifs) ont permis de montrer que le manque d'implication au travail des jeunes éboueurs est la principale variable déterminante du comportement d'absence. Dans un deuxième temps, nous avons extraits des entretiens semi-directifs des déterminants organisationnels (les caractéristiques du travail, le style de management, la concurrence pour la promotion interne) et individuels (manque de reconnaissance sociale, "logique de l'honneur" déficiente) à l'origine de ce manque d'implication au travail.
