Remesas, crisis económica internacional y desarrollo en América Latina

Abstract

El incremento espectacular de los flujos de remesas hacia América Latina durante la última década, ha avivado la discusión académica entorno a las relaciones entre migraciones y desarrollo. La crisis económica internacional, que afecta en mayor medida a los países desarrollados destino de los migrantes latinos (especialmente Estados Unidos y España), se ha traducido en una significativa reducción las remesas. El análisis de esta situación presenta una oportunidad de contrastar y debatir los efectos de las remesas sobre las economías de los países de origen de los migrantes.
