Costes y determinantes del crimen en América Latina

Abstract

La presencia de violencia desestructurada y criminalidad supone una notable amenaza para la seguridad ciudadana en América Latina. Al margen de la pérdida directa de calidad de vida que se deriva de vivir en contacto con la violencia, los países que presentan altos niveles de criminalidad e inseguridad pueden ver reducidas sus oportunidades de crecimiento económico a nivel agregado. Este trabajo pretende ofrecer una visión global sobre los principales factores determinantes del crimen en América Latina, así como una evaluación de su impacto en términos económicos. Del resultado obtenido se desprenderán una serie de conclusiones.
