Abstract

This paper analyses industrial clustering dynamics in an emerging economy, with a case study of Thailand. We match some field observations and documented cases with clustering theory originating from advanced industrial countries. This transfer of concept leads to designing a new framework of analysis and identifying three categories of cluster, according to their origins, sector linkages and economic and social embeddedness, namely : "tradi-clusters", "neo-clusters", and "plani-clusters".
