Abstract

La problématique du libéralisme peut être formulée en ces termes : comment faire tenir ensemble des individus dans une société ? On entrevoit que la question du comment (qui se réduira progressivement à la dimension procédurale) prend le pas sur celles de la finalité et du sens. La disqualification de l'ordre symbolique et de la fonction sociale du négatif dont il procède au profit de l'avènement d'un mode de coexistence autoréférentiel et procédural pose la question de l'inscription de la limite. La prise en compte de la dimension environnementale en termes de développement durable constitue-t-elle la figure contemporaine d'une telle exigence ? Il semble plutôt que l'orientation en la matière relève d'une dynamique paradoxale.
