Abstract

Ce texte cherche à établir la relation entre liberté d'information et développement économique, social et humain, en montrant que les exigences démocratiques en matière d'information rejoignent l'impératif du développement économique local. La théorie économique moderne de l'information représente un outil d'analyse de ces liens et des limitations imposées à la liberté d'expression par les contraintes technologiques et économiques et les stratégies informationnelles des acteurs. On peut ainsi fonder au plan théorique quelques propositions allant dans le sens de la démocratie participative et de la liberté d'information dans la perspective du développement local. Les théories mobilisées permettent également de contribuer au débat actuel sur l'« individualisme méthodologique » versus « holisme », deux approches souvent opposées dans les sciences sociales.
