Abstract

Managing ‘responsible' buying is now a popular subject in multinational company management. This type of managing is part of a continuum between cosmetic and a real modification in organization. The academic literature has studied how the companies incorporate CSR criteria into their purchasing decisions, but the processing and passing on of the CSR criteria to suppliers is of little interest. From five cases studies and interviews with purchasing directors we propose to highlight the main factors (or limits) of distributing this criteria.
