Abstract

Paradoxalement, obtenir un premier emploi correspondant strictement à sa formation initiale n'est souvent pas la norme, en dehors de quelques professions ou formations bien réglementées. Cette « adéquation » se détériore même, le plus souvent, au fil de la carrière dans des secteurs peu attractifs. Si le niveau de diplôme assure en général un risque de chômage moindre et un salaire plus élevé, l'impact de la spécialité de formation est plus complexe. Les formations professionnelles ne procurent pas seulement des compétences spécifiques à un domaine d'emploi mais aussi, et peut-être tout autant, des compétences générales et transférables. Qui plus est, une fois la carrière engagée en décalage avec la spécialité de formation initiale, l'expérience spécifique cumulée prendrait le pas sur les acquis de la formation initiale.
