Abstract

Ce livre de cours présente les principales notions et concepts utilisés dans le domaine de la statistique descriptive. Il est organisé en cinq parties sur les différents aspects de la statistique descriptive : - les outils de base de la statistique descriptive (les variables, les nomenclatures, les représentations graphiques) ; - les caractéristiques décrivant les distributions à une dimension (mode, médiane, moyennes, indicateurs de dispersion et de concentration) ; - les techniques permettant de mettre en lumière les relations entre variables pour des distributions à deux dimensions (corrélation, ajustement, coefficient de détermination) ; - les méthodes les plus simples du traitement des séries chronologiques (tendance longue, correction des variations saisonnières) ; - les calculs des indices, une des informations les plus utilisées dans l'information économique et sociale. Il vise à donner les outils qui permettent d'analyser les résultats obtenus afin d'en obtenir une information pertinente. Il est complété par un ouvrage d'exercices, la résolution de ceux-ci facilitant la maîtrise des techniques de calcul et permettant donc une analyse des résultats.
