Abstract

En este articulo, el autor considera que la depreciación del dólar es una tendencia de largo plazo. A Mediano plazo, el dólar debería quedarse como moneda internacional dominante: las estrategias de switching son limitadas, los países que poseen grandes reservas en dólares no tienen interés de realizar conversiones masivas y urgentes, y el dólar es abundante por el déficit de los EEUU y la liquidez de los bonos del Tesoro. Además, el dólar es la moneda principal de facturación internacional y la historia monetaria muestra que una moneda no pierde su supremacía de un dia a otro. A propósito de la crisis financiera internacional, el autor dice que la profundización de la crisis dependerá de la capacidad para recapitalizar a los bancos y organismos financieros en dificultades.
