Abstract

L'interdépendance entre la logistique et le transport doit être prise en compte dans toute démarche visant à réduire les impacts sur l'environnement du transport. L'arbitrage entre le coût du stockage et celui du transport détermine l'organisation de l'ensemble de la chaîne logistique, de la production à la distribution, et par conséquent les caractéristiques qualitatives de la demande de transport. Le juste à temps oriente ce choix vers le mode routier. L'agrandissement de la taille des entrepôts et la réduction concomitante de leur nombre augmentent les distances de transport. La géographie de la logistique structure la géographie des flux. Elle organise celle des territoires.L'impact de la logistique sur le transport commence à être identifié mais il reste à mieux en comprendre les mécanismes économiques afin de pouvoir agir efficacement pour la maîtrise des émissions de gaz à effet de serre du transport dans une perspective de développement durable. Les différents aspects traités dans le présent dossier visent à y contribuer.
