Abstract

From works in psychology (emotional intelligence and stress and burnout models) and the human capital theory, this paper brings some explanations on "burnout" at work. It synthesizes some previous work on "emotional capital". Then, it underlines how important are emotional competencies to cope with changes, with stressful situations at work by analysing work situations, being active or a change agent. Those emotional competencies are helpful at developing individual or collective or organisational responses to change situations. Those answers mobilize an emotional capital and participate to the difference of adaptation, of resilience, or the management of stressful changes. It participates to a better resilience, a better working life and living together.
