China's Response to Globalization: Manufacturing Confucian Values

Abstract

Cette étude veut analyser une quête identitaire et une volonté de recouvrer une certaine puissance économique mais aujourd'hui également de lutter contre la vulgate néolibérale. C'est ce processus qui est retracé ici de la fin du xixe siècle au discours actuel sur le modèle de croissance économique en Chine. C'est ainsi qu'après avoir magnifié le mécanisme du marché (après avoir tout d'abord encensé le plan), les économistes chinois sont obligé d'admettre que des imperfections et des asymétries dans l'information font que les marchés ne peuvent être véritablement efficients, que la concurrence est souvent déstabilisatrice et, qu'in fine, l'intervention publique directe reste toujours indispensable. Partant, ce nouveau scepticisme en vient à justifier la défiance traditionnelle des membres les plus conservateurs du Parti communiste chinois.
