Abstract

This paper analyses industrial clustering dynamics in an emerging economy, with a case study of Thailand. We match some field observations and documented cases with clustering theory originating from advanced industrial countries. This transfer of concept leads to identifying three categories of cluster, according to their origins, sector linkages and economic and social embeddedness, namely : "tradi-clusters", "neo-clusters", and "plani-clusters".
